San German is a historic town and it's Puerto Rico's oldest settlement outside San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico. It was named after the second wife of Ferdinand of Spain, Germaine de Foix.

Location: San Germàn is located in Porta del Sol, north of Lajas (where you will find La Parguera), west of Ponce and Sabana Grande. and east of Cabo Rojo.

- Famous Puerto Rican from San Germán - Lola Rodríguez de Tió (1843-1924), the well-known poet and political leader who wrote the lyrics of Puerto Rico's unoffical national anthem, "La Borinqueña."

Porta Coeli Church

Plazas de San Germàn, Puerto Rico

Getting to San Germàn, Puerto Rico

By Car:If you are already on the west side, take Rt 2 from Mayaguez. If you are traveling to San Germàn from San Juan get on the San Juan Expressway #18 South to San Juan Expressway #52 South to Ponce Road (Carretera [carr.]) #2 East to San Germàn Road #360 South. The drive from San Juan is about 2 hours and 20 minutes.
